Zizyphus

Zizўphus Juss., Pflanzengattg. der Rhamnazeen, trop. und subtrop. Sträucher und Bäume. Z. vulgāris Lamk. (Judendorn), in Nordafrika, Südeuropa, mit eßbaren, süßen Früchten (ind., franz. oder ital. Brustbeeren, Jujuben, welche Hagebutten); Z. lotus Lam. (Lotus-Judendorn) gilt für den echten Lotosbaum der Alten. Von Z. spina Christi W. (Christusdorn) in Palästina wurde der Sage nach Christi Dornenkrone geflochten.
